We want to showcase a spectacular private party that Wasing Park hosted recently. This was for a special birthday during the winter, and what we were able to offer proves that Christmas doesn’t have to be the only thing to look forward to during this season!
A family looking for a venue to invite 40 guests to stay over 3 days to celebrate a 30th birthday. In particular a venue with space for outdoor activities, on-site accommodation to stay overnight and a location near the Castle Barn for a marquee.

If you’re looking for a truly unique event, why not start by planning a weekend away in one of the most beautiful country estates in Berkshire. For this particular event, our client’s guests flew in from overseas and were accommodated in our 26 boutique guest rooms.
How the weekend went…
During the event, guests took part in various outdoor activities including falconry, Segwaying, and quad biking. On the Castle Barn terrace lawn, guests met our nature expert and were able to handle a variety of birds of prey – kestrels and owls, to name just a few!
On Segways, guests explored acres of beautiful woodland, rolling parkland and tranquil fishing lakes located on the estate. For a bit of healthy competition, they were then challenged to a quad bike obstacle course in the woods, where they could let off some steam and get muddy!
Whilst the adults were off exploring, the children had certainly not been forgotten. They were invited to The Stables Lodge meeting room which had been transformed in to an indoor play area, fully equipped with a selection of craft activities and games to keep even the most energetic of children entertained! There was even a giant bouncy castle situated a stone’s throw away from the Lodge.
Once the action packed activities had come to an end, our Stables Lodge lounge was ready to welcome guests back for a rest, with a well-stocked bar and stoked log burner to warm them from the winter chill. Whilst the gentlemen enjoyed a warming drink and card games in the lounge, we had a hair and makeup artist enlisted to ensure the ladies were ready for the festivities.
The evening celebrations started with drinks and canapés, prepared by our in-house caterers Galloping Gourmet. These were served in a tipi provided by Stunning Tents which looked out over the picturesque St Nicholas church. The setting was picture perfect, with the church and surrounding trees beautifully lit up. The tipi was fully kitted out with a rustic concave bar, a fire pit in the centre of the tipi for ambience, fairy lights and a selection of bespoke-made double sided sofas and suede upholstered ottomans. A variety of slow-roasted food followed which included whole grilled sea bass with coconut and coriander marinade and butterflied leg of lamb with anchovy and rosemary glaze.
After dinner guests took a short walk over to The Castle Barn to continue the celebrations. The barn was dressed with garlands of seasonal wintery foliage and candles and a Christmas tree decorated simply with white lights to create the perfect winter ambience. Whilst in The Castle Barn guests were treated to a slice of celebratory cake followed by a shot of Russian vodka and an evening full of music and dancing!
To send our guests off the following morning, a delicious brunch was served in The Stables Lodge which included a full English breakfast with our famous Wasing sausages, pastries, and fresh coffee before guests departed from the venue.
