How an international business brought its senior team together and made the most of Dewsall Court over their two day stay.
Looking for a venue as far removed as possible from a traditional and boring hotel environment as possible. A place for them to be inspired by every bit of the space, making them feel relaxed and cared for within that space.
The senior team, from various departments of an international engineering organisation came together for two days at Dewsall Court to spend time together in a comfortable house they could think of as home, where ideas can flourish and colleagues connect.
This was a great opportunity to use all the areas of the house. The guests arrived at Dewsall Court for 9.45am where they were given bacon sandwiches, tea and coffee before starting their first workshop in the Studio Barn. Squashy sofas and bean bags, flip charts, and supplies of fruit and refreshments were available.
Their second session that followed was held in the Wainhouse Barn. They needed enough space for breakout sessions, 20 chairs in a horseshoe layout, and for them to work separately on stand alone stables. The large space available in the Wainhouse is well suited for this: fully heated, kitchen on hand and lots of natural light.
Lunch, was healthy, light and informal, available for guests to help themselves in the Conservatory after they had been shown their rooms.
The business activities continued after lunch in front of the fire in the sitting room. Guests then made the most of the wonderful country walks around the grounds and they were encouraged to go in pairs to reflect on the morning’s work and discussions.
Tea was served in the farmhouse kitchen, complete with Aga and big open fire, with fresh cake and pots of tea to share stories and reflections from each of their walks.
The group then moved to the sitting room once again for the last session of the day until 6.30pm when they were able to relax with some evening drinks and canapes in the hall.
Whilst the guests were in the sitting room, the Conservatory was reset for dinner, with lots of candles, soft background music, delicious food and wine for guests to unwind and enjoy and later, to wander down to the Wainhouse to find the fire pit lit with toasting marshmallows and hot chocolates available.
It started with a Dewsall breakfast, followed by a paired walk again, taking in the beautiful scenery. The rest of the morning was spent in the Conservatory and sitting room, the hours broken up by deliveries of refreshments, homemade snacks and stretch breaks.
After lunch in the Conservatory, Dewsall had arranged for a special ceremony to take place, that guests were able to be involved in. This was to honour the two nationalities, Japanese and Welsh, that are involved in the business venture and for the guests to acknowledge this cultural element within their business activity.
Similar to day one, the guests worked all afternoon until they were able to relax and have a three-course dinner together.
On the Final Day
Guests woke at the usual time for breakfast together in the kitchen before departing.
Dewsall staff worked closely with the coordinators to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for a small group with very high expectations. It was important to the staff to get this right so that the guests relaxed together in the short time they had available. They provided various levels and places of comfort, as well as magazines and papers, maps of local walks to go on and plenty of drinks and snacks available in the kitchen throughout their stay and a well stocked bar in the study for people to help themselves to.
They used music, candles and lighting, and simple, homely flowers to add atmosphere and energy to the different spaces. They created WOW moments every day for the guests to experience, and to feel inspired by too. This was particularly enjoyable as the team love making WOW moments at Dewsall.
