It’s no secret that Iscoyd Park has a five times world champion cocktail mixologist in it’s ranks, so naturally we were keen to tap his knowledge for some Christmas inspiration. Here below we have two of The Cocktail Guru’s finest seasonal drinks recipes, to get every aunt/ grandpa/ brother-in-law singing your Christmas praises….Over to you Jamie:
One of my favourite seasonal drinks is the Hot Apple Toddy and is one which has been received with great enthusiasm wherever it has featured. We often use it as the reception drink at Iscoyd Park as a refreshing alternative to mulled wine.
It is a very simple drink to make either as a single serve or as a batch – just scale up the recipe and make in a pan instead.
Hot Apple Toddy
1 1/2 measures Drambuie
1 measure Ruby Port
1/2 measure Lemon Juice
5 measures pressed apple juice
Mulled wine spices ( cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, star anise, orange peel)
To make a single serve, simply heat the apple juice until it is hot (not boiling) with the spices in it. Add the other ingredients and give it a quick stir.
The second cocktail uses slightly more specialist ingredients but makes a delicious drink with a seasonal touch.
We Three Kings
1 measure Gin (we use King of Soho)
1/2 measure Chambord liqueur
14 measure King’s Ginger Liqueur
1 measure Monin Gingerbread syrup (you can find it in the coffee aisle in large supermarkets)
1 measure lemon juice
Dash egg white
Dash orange bitters
Shake well and strain into a tumbler filled with cubed ice
Garnish with a clove-studded orange peel
Repeat for your pleasure, but please drink responsibly!
