Bring out the boughs, the chestnuts, the holly and the ivy. Christmas is upon us once again. It’s time to talk about what you’ll be drinking this Yuletide season to keep you merry, (warm) and bright.
If you’re looking to introduce something new to the traditions of Christmas, perhaps something hot and spicy or keep your guests sweet, here is a delicious option to try from Thom, Catering Manager at Dewsall Court. A winter warmer, he says, for having in front of the fire with oversized jumpers and woolly socks on! If like me, you already have butter on your Top Ten Friend List, then this one’s for you!
Christmas Cocktail: Hot Buttered Rum
55ml Ron Zacapa Solera 23 Rum
1 Cinnamon stick
2 Twists of lemon
1 Small knob of butter
For this drink I use Ron Zacapa rum, its hints of chocolate, honey and almond just explode when warmed up!
- Place the rum into a thick glass with a teaspoon (to stop the glass from cracking)
- Fill glass up with boiling water
- Float your butter on top and stir until the butter has completely mixed in
- Prepare 2 lemon twists and drop them in with a stick of cinnamon
Mince pie optional – but advised!
