It’s no secret that grand country houses were some of the best venues for entertaining. What went on along these corridors, these bedrooms, fields and kitchens, we can only imagine. To have the opportunity to be able to use them for parties and play host for the day can make the imagination run wild – or can it? If you often pull a blank when it comes to what to do and where, maybe you just haven’t found the right kind of venue to bring out your imagination. We believe it’s about finding the best venue that suits your hosting style. But what is that exactly? Here we share five options.
Best venue for running the event A-Z
If you have Pinterest event mood boards by the dozen and love the idea of total event management control, then a venue where you can run the event from start to finish is an ideal option. You can pander to every event idea you’ve ever had and pour them into one fantastic party. A space you can ‘dry hire’ for your event (we can help provide a few pointers along the way) allows wonderful creative freedom for food and drink choices as well as creating something truly unique to you and your style. Wasing Park for example has two fantastic options – The Secret Walled Garden and the Woodlands – where space is ample and nature your beautiful backdrop. The opportunity with these venues are that you are completely in control. You manage, choose, prompt, liaise and create the event you’ve had in your mind. And the best bit? You get to take all the credit!

No time for that? I want to breeze in, style on and waltz out
Maybe that’s not for you and you’d rather something more managed. The biggest impact can often be found in the events that are short on time but high in tempo. And if you are looking for impact, I imagine you will also be looking for a good time and that means getting the help of the event professionals.
A 24 hour hire of a house is perfect for this. You will have the house from the morning of your event until the same time the following day. At Iscoyd Park, as with all our venues, all your event ideas can be arranged with your dedicated event planner in advance so all you have to think about is being with your guests and having the best time. All your catering, clearing, cleaning and supplier management will be organised by the in house events team so that in the morning you get to relive the memories of the day before and not think about organising a single thing yourself. We consider this to be our standard service, where we get to look after you and your guests.

A place for every type of occasion:
These houses have been around long enough to know a thing or two about time. It’s often best to take things slow. Sometimes there are occasions where it’s important to have people around you for a longer period in order to adjust the pace, catch up and spend some time together – whether that’s for work or with family and friends. The exclusive nature of each of our houses makes them the best venues for uninterrupted fun.
Playing host for a few days allows you to use each of the great event spaces that are available in the houses and Dewsall Court has plenty! A typical stay could include an outdoor dinner, under a tented canopy, looking out onto beautiful mountain views. Or a simple brunch in the conservatory followed by long walks and an indulgent soak in one of the deepest baths in England. In the evening you can all pile into the party venue for dinner and dancing, or cut loose from the dance floor yurt to rest your dancing feet in front of the fire-pit before gathering around the kitchen table talking long into the night. The house is yours to enjoy, it would be a shame not to take advantage of all that’s on offer, wouldn’t it?

“Everyone together or not at all” kind of host
Unique venues that have enough space for everyone can be hard to find. The best venues like to keep things flexible as well as a little adventurous. At Pennard House you can find beautiful canvas tipis to accommodate all your guests and to ensure you can all stay in the same place. Each of them has comfortable double or single beds, crisp, clean linen with real duvets and pillows and all the accessories you’d expect from a top quality glamping experience.
This means no one has to leave early just because their partner is nor does anyone have to volunteer as the dreaded designated driver.
So you can take advantage of the great venue spaces the house and grounds offer, using the large spaces as much as the small, the indoor, the outdoor and the unique!

I know it’s exclusive use, but what about the neighbours?
What happens when you hear your favourite song? You sing it out loud! What happens when it’s everyone’s favourite song? The windows shake. If you know that your group of revellers are of the laughing, chanting variety and have lungs as healthy as a Welsh male choir then your hosting skills are going to be put to the test, encouraging a lot of ssssh-ing and monitoring of volume dials in order to keep the peace.
Luckily the team at Elmore Court with a DJ at the helm, know what makes a party tick and they know music is most certainly one of them. If you want to sing it loud and clear for everyone even your deaf grandma to hear, then you can relax in your very own soundproof venue and put the Funktion One sound system to the sonic test. The Gillyflower’s solid earth walls will take your noise and ground it, quite literally, so you can really let your hair down when that song comes on.
